Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) like the MACOG are required to develop long-range Transportation Plans (TP) with a minimum 20 year horizon. The Transportation Plan documents how the MPO Boards plan to invest local, state, and federal transportation dollars in highways and mass transit projects. The 2040 Transportation Plans address the following:

The plan includes primarily projects for roads and highways such as road reconstructions, new road constructions, added travel lanes, intersection improvements, grade separations, and lane configurations.
